“NLUO Emerges as the ‘Winning Contingent’ in 15th NUJS’ Sports Fest, Invicta 2023”

A contingent of 91 sportspersons from the National Law University Odisha (NLUO) participated in the National University of Juridical Sciences' (NUJS) Annual Sports Fest, INVICTA, held between February 16 and 19, 2023. The contingent, comprising of 33 sportswomen and 58 sportsmen, competed against students from top law schools and other universities from different parts of the country over three days. The competition was fierce, as the players engaged in various sports events. The Athletics Women's Team won Silver, and the Badminton Women's Team won Gold, among other notable achievements. The NLUO contingent was crowned as the ‘Winning Contingent’ after securing the highest points. NLUO won 9 Gold, 10 Silver and 3 Bronze Medals including games like Basketball (Women), Throwball (Women) Volleyball (Women), Football (Men), and consequently lifted the ‘Winning contingent’ trophy. This was the first time NLUO participated in Invicta after 2020. The athletes of NLUO were felicitated by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ved Kumari, on February 22, 2023, at the NLUO Seminar Hall.

Arnab Chakraborty, Convenor of the Sports Committee, Piyush Katyal, Senior Member of the Sports Committee, Aastha Singh and Aayushman Awasthi, Co-Convenors of the Sports Committee were the contingent leaders of NLUO. This was the first time in recent history that NLUO finished as the ‘Winning Contingent’ bettering their previous run in NLIU’s Sports Fest, Virudhaka in 2019, where NLUO had finished as the ‘Runners-Up’. After a hiatus of 3 years due to the pandemic, NLUO continued their journey, building upon their previous pre-pandemic successes. In Athletics, Anushka Guha and Anupama Thakur won Gold-Medals in 3 track events, while Jigyasa Fonia bagged Gold in Shotput (Women). Among other achievements, the NLUO Football Team won Silver as they went on to play 4 games without conceding any goal, only to lose out on penalties to NUJS in the Final. In Girls' Volleyball, NLUO finished as Winners beating NUJS in the Final. Aditya Roy also won Gold in the 3000m (Men), Prateek Srivastava finished 2nd in the 200m (Men) & Tenzin Dager Khampa bagged a silver medal in 400m (Women). Additionally, adding feathers to our cup, NLUO bagged Gold in Pool and Carrom as well. Furthermore, the NLUO Cricket team finished as the Runner-Up losing out on the winner’s trophy just by 11 runs. TT (Men & Women), Lawn Tennis (Men), Chess (Men), Badminton (Men) finished as Runners-Up
