Ms. Ananya Das and Mr. Abdaal Akhtaar
Informal Discussion Group, National Law University Odisha is organising its 22nd Guest Lecture on October 12, 2019. Mr. Abdaal Akhtar, IAS and Ms. Ananya Das, IAS have agreed to grace the occasion and they would be interacting with students on the topic of "Careers after Law: A future in Public Services"
A brief profiles of the Guests are as follows:
Mr Abdaal Akhtar
After graduating from NALSAR, Hyderabad in 2013, Mr Akhtar worked as part of the in-house counsel team at ITC Limited, Kolkata. He attempted his first UPSC exam in 2013, while working full-time, and secured the 35th All India Rank in his second attempt, paving the way towards becoming an IAS officer. Hailing from Bhubaneswar itself, the 27 year old was granted his home cadre after the initial probationary training at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie and is currently working as a Project Director at the District Rural Development Agency in Cuttack.
Ms Ananya Das
A trained engineer, Ms Das completed her B.Tech in Computer Science and M.Sc in Economics from BITS, Pilani. She worked with Oracle India Pvt. Ltd as a Software Engineer for 8 months and subsequently interned at the Reserve Bank of India for 3 months in Jaipur wherein she worked on a paper on 'Financial Contagion and regulatory Responses'. After quitting her corporate job, she cracked the Civil Services Exam in her very first attempt in 2014, acquiring the 16th rank, across India. She is a 2015 batch IAS officer of the Odisha Cadre and is currently the Commissioner of the Cuttack Municipal Corporation.
