23 & 24 March 2019: The Literary and Debating Committee of NLUO hosted IV NLUO British Parliamentary Debate.

The Literary and Debating Committee of National Law University, Odisha hosted the fourth edition of its annual flagship event – NLUO British Parliamentary Debate 2019 on the 23rd & 24th March 2019.

NLUO being the only institution in the Eastern Circuit to offer British Parliamentary styled tournaments has consequently witnessed participation from teams within and across the border in its previous editions. The tournament involves 4 teams competing one at a time while advancing arguements for the sake of proposing or opposing the motion assigned to them. This year, each team with the aim of putting forth the most convincing case for their side of the house pioneered thought provoking discussions on contemporary issues at hand. Consequently, this edition became one of the most competitive one yet. With a stellar Core Adjudicator team comprising of Ms. Anusuiya Radhika from Lady Shri Ram College, New Delhi, Mr. Varun Baliga from NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad and Mr. Osho Cheer from National Law School, Bangalore each participant made sure to leave no stone unturned while putting their point across. There were 30 teams from all over the country competing for prize money over Rs. 1, 15,000/- with ultimately only one team being declared as the Winner of the tournament.

Final Debate of this tournament was between HNLU, IIT KGP, Cross institution teams comprising of esteemed colleges of NUJS and XAVIERS Kolkata wherein students from the latter two colleges emerged as winners.

The final was graced by the presence of Hon’able Vice Chancellor Sri Krishna Dev Rao, and faculty advisor of Committee Mr. Akash Kumar.
