KAIRAAN – INTER COLLEGE CULTURAL FESTIVAL

Kairaan is the flagship cultural festival organized by the Cultural Committee, National Law University Odisha and the last edition organised in 2019, was by far the biggest cultural fest organised in National Law University Odisha since its inception. The last edition of Kairaan witnessed a pan-India participation from colleges including National Law University Delhi, Gujarat National Law University, School of Law, KIIT, and others. Further, the festival hosted famous artists such as Ritviz and Mojo Jojo first time in the State of Odisha and made a footfall of over 2000 people groove to their beats.

In making the festival a grand success, the committee through its members along with the volunteers used innovative methods to grow its reach such as organizing flash mobs and interactive competitions which in turn helped spread the reach of the festival across colleges in Odisha. Apart from hosting an assortment of various eateries, Kairaan 2019 witnessed food stalls organized by NLUO students portraying both their entrepreneurship and cooking skills alike. Furthermore, to cheer up the students and the participants, and provide them with a time of their lives, Kairaan 2019 also hosted an afternoon session of ‘Zorbing’, a recreational sport allowing participants to fight out their emotions only through being inside an air-filled balloon.

Kairaan organizes a plethora of events to keep the participants engaged across the 3 days they spend in the NLUO campus. From organizing stage events such as – dance competitions through variety of segments including the western dance-off, and eastern performances; musical events which allow the participants to portray their musical passion; drama competitions which enables the participants to stage their talent and express their emotions; and the fashion show which brings out the fashionista in everyone. Additionally, Kairaan also hosts off-stage events such as street-play competitions which allows participants to speak up on social issues in an innovative way; the treasure hunt which is one of the most participated events spread across the campus of NLUO through various clues and providing the participants with an engaging experience to remember through their lifetimes.

‘Kairaan’ which translates to ‘journey’ indeed provides anlifetime experience to the students and participants and takes to them to mythical journey for 3 days with fun-filled activities to remember for a life-time. With the help of the committee members and the guidance of our beloved faculty advisors, the last edition of Kairaan has been the biggest edition, however as the motto of Kairaan suggests, future editions will be bigger, better and bolder!
