Mental Health Awareness Programs Conducted at NLU Odisha (14th  to 17th April 2022)

1. Session on Stress Management by Dr. Pallabi Sahu, Assistant Prof. in the Department of Psychiatry SCB MCH Cuttack on 14th April 2022

The interactive session on Stress Management by Dr. Pallabi Sahu was attended by Faculty members, Staffs and Students of NLUO. Dr. Sahu elaborated upon various aspects of Stress Management and discussed the means to overcome the stress in day to day life. In the session members of NLUO Fraternity discussed various issues faced by them in day to day life and the solution to it was discussed by Dr. Sahu.

2. Session on Understanding Suicide and Early Intervention by Dr. Seema Parija, Assistant Prof. in the Department of Psychiatry SCB MCH Cuttack on 15th April 2022

The session on Understanding Suicide and Early Intervention by Dr. Seema Parija was attended by Faculty members, Staffs and Students of NLUO wherein issues pertaining to Understanding suicide and sensitivity required to deal with such issues was discussed. Dr. Parija insisted on maintaining Sleep hygiene in order to overcome the issues of restlessness and sleeplessness.

3. Mental health programs in collaboration with Anubhav Positive Psychology Clinic from 15th to 17th April 2022.

A. Mental Health Ambassador Programme on 15th April 2022

University has organized a Mental Health Ambassador Programme on 15 April 2022 in collaboration with Anubhav Positive Psychology Clinic under which students, faculties and Hostel staffs of the University were trained and certified as Mental Health Ambassador of NLUO.

The Course was conducted by Paromita Mitra Bhaumik, a well known Psychologist, working for the cause of mental health, education and coaching for the last 25 years. She is the Founder Director of the renowned Anubhav Positive Psychology Clinic, in South Kolkata and is associated with some of the leading hospitals in kolkata. She is currently the HOD of the Department of Clinical Psychology, for the George Group of Colleges under MAKAUT.

The program aimed at spreading mental health awareness in the campus and training Students and staff members as First Aiders. At the end, after the assessment the attendees were awarded Certificate of as Mental Health Ambassador of NLUO.

B. Trauma Counselling and Stress Management on 16 April 2022 from 5 PM to 8 PM

Another enriching session was organized by Ms. Sohini Mukherjee, Counseling Psychologist and Ms. Ipsita Banik, Clinical Psychologist primarily for those students and Staff members who were directly/indirectly affected by any kind of Trauma. The session has been very fruitful for all in overcoming the trauma.

C. Mass Awareness Session on Stress Management on 17 April 2022 from 5 PM to 8 PM

A general Mass Awareness Session on Stress Management by conducted by Ms. Sohini Mukherjee, Counseling Psychologist and Ms. Ipsita Banik, Clinical Psychologist for the overall mental well being of the NLUO fraternity wherein the life skills in order to manage stress were discussed.

Besides these sessions One to One Counseling by Ms. Sohini Mukherjee, Counseling Psychologist and Ms. Ipsita Banik, Clinical Psychologist was availed by the NLUO Fraternity.
