"The 1st talk on 'Judicial Pressures and Constitutional Courage' ".

Greetings All,

We hope this mail finds you in good health.

We are at a point in time when the faith of the general public in institutions stands at an abyss. This has not failed to include even the Judiciary, in which people had had long-established faith and belief. It is an important moment to start a conversation on how judiciary is and can continue to be a foundational building block of our democracy – both in an attempt to understand the present state of affairs and to offer solutions. Thus, Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy in association with the Kautilya Society at National Law University Odisha brings you is organising a series of conversations titled ‘Conscience Keeper: Judiciary as the Constitutional Guardian’. It is a series of four conversations spread over our Constitutional Law Month. These conversations will address some of the most pressing concerns of our time, including judiciary and constitutional courage, unlawful restriction of free speech, and the nature of federalism in India today, among others.

The first talk will be on 'Judicial Pressures and Constitutional Courage', on 26th November 2020 at 6:00 P.M.

The keynote speakers for the first talk shall be:

  1. Justice B.N. Srikrishna (Indian Jurist and Retired Supreme Court Judge),
  2.  Mr. Salman Khurshid (Senior Advocate and Politician) and
  3.  Ms. Dhruti Kapadia (Solicitor and Advocate-on-Record, Supreme Court).

The virtual event will be moderated by Mr. Arghya Sengupta, Research Director, Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy.
